About Borage

The beautiful blue star-shaped flowers are edible and taste like cucumber. They are one of the few truly blue foods in nature. It is one of the best companion plants - it attracts bees in huge numbers and improves the flavor of nearby tomatoes. It contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) in its seed oil, one of the richest plant sources. The leaves are also edible when young but have prickly hairs. It self-seeds prolifically once established. The ancient Celts added borage to wine for courage before battle. It grows 60-90 cm tall. It is one of the best plants for attracting pollinators.
