About Elderberry

One of the most antiviral plants known - clinical studies show elderberry extract can reduce flu duration by 2-4 days. It was called the medicine chest of the country people by Hippocrates. All parts except ripe cooked berries are mildly toxic when raw. It produces massive clusters of tiny black berries. Elderberry wine and cordial have been made for centuries. The flowers are also used - elderflower cordial is a British classic. It grows so vigorously it was once planted over outhouses to mask smells. It attracts over 60 species of birds. Sambucol, a commercial extract, is sold in pharmacies worldwide.
