Lemon Verbena
About Lemon Verbena
Has the most intense lemon scent of any plant - far stronger than lemongrass or lemon balm. It was brought to Europe from South America in the 1700s and became enormously popular in Victorian England. The leaves make an outstanding tea. It is used in perfumery for its bright, clean lemon fragrance. It contains citral and limonene. The leaves retain their scent when dried, making them excellent for potpourri. It can grow 2-3 meters tall in frost-free climates. It loses its leaves in winter even indoors. It is relatively difficult to propagate. It is the best lemon-scented herb for culinary use.
