About Oregano

Has 4x more antioxidants than blueberries by weight - one of the most antioxidant-rich foods on Earth. The name means joy of the mountain in Greek. Greek oregano is the most flavorful variety. Oregano oil contains carvacrol, a potent antimicrobial compound effective against multiple drug-resistant bacteria. It was virtually unknown in the US until WWII soldiers brought back a taste for pizza from Italy. There are over 40 species. Mexican oregano is actually a different plant entirely (Lippia graveolens). It is a staple of Mediterranean, Mexican, and Middle Eastern cuisines.
