About Caraway

The so called seeds are actually the dried fruits of the plant. Its distinctive flavor comes mainly from carvone and limonene. It flavors rye bread, sauerkraut, and many cheeses. Scandinavian aquavit and the liqueur kummel rely on it. It has long been used to ease digestion and bloating. Seeds found at prehistoric European sites make it one of the oldest cultivated spices. Finland is one of the largest producers.
