About Lemongrass (Ginger Grass)

Cymbopogon martini, also called palmarosa. It produces an essential oil with a rose-like fragrance used extensively in perfumery. The oil contains geraniol (up to 95%), which has demonstrated antimicrobial properties. It is used in Ayurvedic medicine for skin conditions. It is a close relative of lemongrass but with a different aromatic profile. India is the primary producer. The oil is a common adulterant of rose oil because of its similar scent. It grows 1-2 meters tall. It is drought-tolerant once established. It is used in soap-making and cosmetics. It is one of the most important aromatic grasses in perfumery.
